Kilby Joe Edwards Sr.
Clinchco, VA – Kilby Joe Edwards Sr., age 75 of Backbone Ridge, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at his home. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Elliot Ray and McCartha Inez Taylor Edwards. Kilby Joe had made his home in Locust Hill for 41 years. He stayed at his home place on Back Bone Ridge in Clinchco during the summer months, raising a vegetable garden and working at different projects around his home which he loved. He was of the Baptist faith and was last employed as a county real estate assessor in Gloucester, VA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Casey Denver Edwards and Jeff Taylor Edwards.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Elizabeth Edwards, a son, Kilby Joe Edwards, Jr. of Dallas, TX, a daughter, Elizabeth Joanne (Mike) Bailey of NC, one granddaughter, Samantha Elizabeth Bailey, five sisters, Gladys J. Counts of Clintwood, VA, Juanita Sneeujagt of Clintwood, Jeanette (Bob) Mullins of FL, Deborah (Rick) Adkins of FL, and Vonda (Larry) Mullins of Clintwood, and brothers, Elmer C. Edwards of NC, Roger (Francis) Edwards of Clintwood, Kedric Con (Patty) Edwards of Castlewood, VA, and Todd Chan (Charlotte) Edwards of Clinchco.
Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Haysi Funeral Home with Joe Glenn Sluss officiating. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 29 at Elliot Ray Edwards Cemetery, Clinchco. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bone Cancer Research.
