Haysi, VA- Darrell Glenn Conaway, age 55 of Greenbrier Road, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017 at his home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Tazewell County, he was a son Clyde and the late Nadine Owens Conaway. He was a coal truck driver and was of the Old Regular Baptist faith. Some of his greatest joys were spending time with his grandchildren, racing go-carts and watching Nascar. He cherished his many friendships with fellow coal truck drivers. In addition to his loving mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Conaway.
Survivors include a daughter, Jessica Conaway (Joseph Durso) of Bowling Green, a step-daughter, Talisha (Nathaniel) Comer of Wise, step-sons, Jamie (Mindy) Honaker of Clinchco and Nathan (Ashley) Honaker of Clintwood, grandsons, Matthew Austin and Steven Anthony, step-grandchildren, Madison, Lydia, Ethan, Hayden, Brentley, Colby and Kelsie, a sister, Valerie (Vernon) O’quinn of Haysi, a brother, David (Charlene) Conaway of Haysi, several nieces and nephews and first wife, Teresa Hall Colley, mother of his daughter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders, Terry O’quinn, Andy Deel and Mark Justice officiating. Burial will follow in Conaway Cemetery, Rakes Ridge, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to funeral service.
