Jerry Lynn Stanley I, of Birchleaf, VA passed away suddenly on April 27, 2017. Born November 7, 1953, Jerry was 63 years young when the Lord called him home. Jerry was a lifelong coal miner and an avid Raiders fan who loved being outdoors with his chickens, bees and his garden. He coached Haysi Little League baseball for many years and even married the love of his life on the pitcher’s mound at the Little League field. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved having his family and friends around every chance he got. Jerry had a special light about him that made everyone who knew him feel loved and welcome. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Harold C. Stanley and his father-in-law Zane Grey Rose both of Breaks, VA and his grandparents.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 26 years, Theresa Lynn Rose Stanley; daughters, Laura Lee Stanley Tiller and husband Larry of Council, VA and Melanie Faye Stanley Fuller and husband Marcus of Birchleaf, VA; sons, Jerry “Lynn” Stanley II and fiancée Sue Baltzell of Frederick, MD and Nicholas Grey Stanley of Wise, VA and special foreign exchange son, Kota Arika from Japan; mother, Faye Stanley of Breaks, VA; 3 brothers, Carter Stanley and wife Conda of Tarpon, VA, Wayne Stanley and wife Reba of Big Ridge, VA, Gary Stanley and wife Dana of Clintwood , VA; 3 sisters; Sheila Stanley Abshire and husband Ronnie of Big Ridge, VA, Bonnie Stanley of Breaks, VA, and Vicky Stanley Hill and husband Haymon of NC; mother-in-law, Janice Sue Rose of Haysi, VA; 10 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jordan) Charles, Brenton Fletcher, Chris Tiller, Dakota Mullins, Chad Mullins, Megan Mullins, Lakena Hampton, Jerry Lynn Stanley III, Chancis Yates, Ryann Flook and a great-granddaughter due to be born in July and grand-dog Una of Wise, VA.
Jerry is also survived by many close and special friends who came to be considered family over the years.
Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Shawn Dotson and Jeff Dotson, Darrell Milgrim and Buster Mullins officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. at the Family Cemetery, Birchleaf, VA with Darrell Milgrim officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Friends can assemble at Jerry’s home at 12:30 to proceed to cemetery. The family will receive friends after 5:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to services.
