DANNY H. “RENEGADE”GILBERT
Bee, VA- Danny H. “Renegade” Gilbert, age 77, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 at his home. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Arthur and Edna Gilbert Deel. He was last employed as a truck driver and high lift operator. He attended Duty View Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Gilbert Barton, brothers, Melvin and Dexter Gilbert and a sister, Juanita (Sis) Gilbert Rasnick.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Janie Gilbert, a daughter, Debbie (Terry) Boyd of Abingdon, a son, Jeffrey (Mandy) Gilbert of Bee, grandchildren, Derek Barton (Cheryl) of Bee, Lyndsay Boyd of Abingdon, Taylon and Coalson Gilbert both of Bee, a great-grandson, Jacob Gilbert and great-granddaughter, Christen Gilbert both of Indian Creek, two brothers, Carl (Linda) Gilbert of Bee and Sammy Gilbert of Haysi, sisters, Jerolene Howard of Clintwood, Mary Lou (Jim) Duty of Bee, Linda (Clayton) Justice of Birchleaf and Beatrice Winters of Christiansburg, VA.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Haysi Funeral Home with Bencie Rasnake and Tiller Singers. Graveside services will follow in Johnson Cemetery, Bee, VA with Elder Jim Duty officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends after 11:00 a.m. on Sunday at the funeral home prior to funeral service.
