Betty Edwards Deel
Pikeville, KY – Betty Edwards Deel, age 84, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Pikeville Medical Center. Born in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late Webster and Princie Owens Edwards. She was a homemaker and member of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Monroe Deel, a son, Wayne Deel, a grandson, Dawn Chase, sisters, Thelma Meade, Oma Breeden, Fay Barton, Gay Edwards, June Deel, and Joyce Anderson, and three brothers, Ival, Arlie, and Harold Edwards.
Survivors include three daughters, Jacquline (Jim) Ratliff of Pikeville, Nina Ruth (Billy) Owens of Abingdon, VA, and Daisy Mae (Frank) Wang of Sparks, NV, two sons, Kenneth James Deel of Haysi, VA and William Webster (Peggy) Deel of Bristol, TN, three sisters, Stella Colley of Bristol, VA, Sally (Wayne) McCowan of Clintwood, VA, and Catherine (Jerry) Miller of MI, a brother, Vernon Onley (Helen) Edwards of OH, 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Jeff Dotson, Jim O’quinn, Don Stacy, and Joel Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Robinson Cemetery, Clinchco, VA. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7 at the funeral home where an evening service will be held at 6:00 p.m. with Elders Garnell Gilbert, Jim O'quinn, Jeff Dotson, Joel Turner and Carvel Edwards officiating.
