Haysi, VA – Nadine Conaway, age 81 of Greenbrier Road, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. Born in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late James and Vertie Triplett Owens. She was a homemaker and worked for many years as a cook at Russell Prater Elementary School. She was of the Old Regular Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Allene Deel and Jo-Anne Deel and three brothers, James Owens, Jr., Jack Owens, and Fairly Owens.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-two years, Clyde Conaway, daughter, Valerie (Vernon) O’Quinn, and sons, David Conaway and Darrell Conaway all of Haysi, six grandchildren: Chris, Kelli, Jessica, Michele, Whitney, and Elizabeth, eleven great-grandchildren, sisters, Pauline Deel and Nell (Bobby) Boyd both of Haysi, and Elizabeth (William) Dale of Bristol and a brother, Blaine (Bethel) Owens of Haysi. All were blessed to have had her in their lives.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2016 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Terry O’Quinn, Jackie Yates, and Mark Justice officiating. Burial will follow in the Conaway Cemetery, Rakes Ridge, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 1:00 p.m. on Friday prior to the funeral service.
