Obituary for Leonard J. Byers

Leonard J.  Byers
LEONARD J. BYERS
Haysi, VA- Leonard J. Byers, age 85 of Nancy Hollow, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at his home. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Walter Lee and Edna Anderson Byers. He was a retired coal miner and member of Sandlick Presbyterian Church where he became a deacon in 1948. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Billy, Bobby and Edmund.
Survivors include his wife Eliza Dye Byers, a daughter, Colleen Byers (Shannon) Duncan of Stanley, NC, a son, James Byers of Paintsville, KY, grandchildren, Autumn Hope Duncan, Kayla Cheriee Byers and Kye Steven Byers, a brother, Danny (Jeanette) Honaker of Emory, four sisters, Dorothy (Tom) Ryburn of Abingdon, Virginia Lois (Jim) Brickel of Surprise, Arizona, Wanda G. Worley of San Antonio, TX and Pauline Silcox of Big Stone Gap.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Haysi Funeral Home with David Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in Sutherland Cemetery, Birchleaf, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon on Saturday prior to funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
