THOMAS DEEL
Haysi, VA- Thomas Deel, age 75, passed away Monday, April 4, 2016 at Buchanan General Hospital in Grundy, VA from his battle with cancer. He was a son of the late Parrot and Icey Deel of Haysi. He was a coal miner for 44 years and a member of Little David Old Regular Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Ray Deel and a sister, Bertha Yates.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Genett Deel, two brothers, Audie Deel and wife Sadie of Haysi, Charles Deel and wife Regina of Grundy, two sisters, Dorothy Newsome and Evelyn Deel both of Haysi, also several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Jerry Newsome, Eddie Newsome and Jim Blankenship. Burial will follow in Parrot Deel Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with an evening service at 7:00 p.m. with Elders Buster Mullins, Steve Lyall, David O’quinn and Frank Newsome officiating.
