Clintwood, VA- Dorothy Newberry, of Big Ridge Road, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at her home. Born in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late Jepsi and Hannah Willis Mullins. She was a homemaker and member of Pilgrims Home Old Regular Baptist Church for 45 years. She loved attending church, canning, quilting and flea marketing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Ted Newberry, sisters, Maxie Fuller, Tennessee Yates, Virgie Stevens and Dixie Stevens and two brothers, Allen and Alfred Mullins.
Survivors include a son, Scottie (Loretta) Mullins and a daughter, Phyllis (Jeff) Mullins both of Clintwood, three grandchildren, Alfred Ted “Bear” (Brittney “Brickley”) Mullins, Cassandra Renee (Terry) Mullins and Daniel Wayne Mullins, 4 great-granddaughters, Cheyenne, Chloe, Cheltan and Riley, a sister, June Mullins, special caregiver, Debbie Mullins and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Haysi Funeral Home with Buster Mullins and Arnold Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Newberry Cemetery, Clintwood, VA. Pallbearers will be Jeff, Daniel, Terry and Josh Mullins, Will Deel, Bobby Hammons and Jerry Vitatoe. Honorary pallbearer will be Dennis Fields. The family will receive friends after 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with a song service at 6:00 p.m. and evening service to follow with Eddie Newsome and David O’quinn officiating.
