Grundy, VA- Jerry Donald Deel, age 73 of Sunset Hollow Road, passed away Monday, November 16, 2015 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Perry and Emma Lee Childress Deel. He was a retired miner, former owner and operator of different mines, an avid farmer and sportsman and was of the Old Regular Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice, a son, Danny Ray Deel, a brother, Darrell Deel and brother-in-law, Jerry Sliger.
Survivors include companion, Maggie Stiltner of Grundy, two sons, Jerry (Cindy) Deel and Kevin Don (companion Toshia Lynn) Deel both of Russell Prater and a daughter, Marla Louise Deel of Danville, 11 grandchildren, William Hibbits, Ami Nicole Deel (Roger Sanders), Anthony Wayne Deel (Alexandria Tunnell) , Heather Renee and husband Danny Keaton, Jonathon Ray Deel, Jordon Thomas Hagy, Zachary Sperow (Amber), Cameron Sperow, Kaley Dawn Deel, Alyssa Loren Deel, Brantley Chase Deel, 3 great-grandchildren, Raden Otto Deel, Brody Titan Deel and Gracie Anna Sue Sperow, four brothers, Billy (Gail) Deel of Abingdon, Jimmy (Carolyn) Deel of Lebanon, Gary Deel of Richlands and Jack (Mary) Deel of Vansant, three sisters, Betty Jean (Roger) Deel of Abingdon, Sandy Epling of Vansant, Gail Sliger of GA, an aunt, Ruby Street, an uncle, Ellis Childress and many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Coleman’s Chapel Church with Elders David O’quinn, Eddie Newsome and Frank Newsome officiating. Burial will follow in Perry Deel Cemetery, Viers Branch, Vansant, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
