Obituary for Kindred R. Ratliff

Kindred R.  Ratliff
Vansant, VA – Kindred R. Ratliff, age 98 years, 10 months, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Manuel and Victoria Ratliff. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Frenchman, Deldon, and Clarence Ratliff, sisters, Pebble Ratliff, Myrtie Ratliff, Chloe O’quinn, and Ollie Rosenbaum, and two sons, Philip Ratliff and Steven Ratliff. He was an airplane instrument repairman in the Army Air Corp during World War II and ater he started Ratliff Jewelers in Haysi where he worked for 40 years. He was the last member of his generation.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Lottie Coleman Ratliff, two sons, Michael (Carolyn) Ratliff of Haysi, VA and Gary Ratliff of Abingdon, VA, two daughters, Rhonda (Charles) Breeding of Haysi and Tammy (Rick) Mullins of Clintwood, VA, grandchildren, Jeremy (Teresa) Ratliff, Amanda Breeding, Jacob, Victoria, and Joseph Ratliff, Chandler and Jordan Mullins, a host of special nieces and nephews as well as many friends and neighbors, his special caregivers, Cynthia Ellis, Brenda Lester, Wanda Brown, and the staff at Dickenson County Home Health.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Jim Duty, Noah Edwards, Garnell Gilbert, and Jim O’quinn officiating. Burial will follow in the Rafliff Family Cemetery with military graveside rites by American Legion Post #164. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Deel, Jack Deel, Glenn Deel, Brian Deel, and Carlos Blankenship. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 2 at the funeral home where a song service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
