Eva Faye Owens Thomas
Vansant, VA – Eva Faye Owens Thomas, age 60 of Murphy Road, lost her courageous battle with cancer on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Born in Buchanan County on March 6, 1955, she was a daughter of Ocie Belcher Owens and the late Ray Owens. She was owner and operator of Eva Thomas Bookkeeping. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Hugh Thomas and her mother-in-law, Helen Thomas.
In addition to her mother, survivors include her loving husband of 43 years, Hugh Thomas, Jr., daughter, Miranda Collins, and son Shawn Thomas, four sisters, Mabel (Roger) Stanley of Harman, Dorothy Owens of TN, Tiny (Eddie) Stevens of Cedar Bluff, and Barbara (Jerry) Coleman of Vansant, one brother, Ray Owens, Jr. of Vansant, 3 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and several in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2015 at Haysi Funeral Home with Lester Boyd and Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Family Cemetery, Vansant, VA. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Michel Bidros, Larry Bostic, Howard Cook, Gerald Jackson, Sam Looney, Tom Pruitt, Warren Childress, Eddie Wilson, and Kermit Wallace. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, at the funeral home where an evening service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
