Vansant, VA – Amos Bryant Owens, age 45 of Squire Oak Road, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015. Born in Tazewell County, he was a son of Clyde and Flornia Compton Owens. He was last employed as a truck driver. Mr. Owens was preceded in death by a brother, Ernie Owens, maternal grandparents, Effie and Corbett Compton, and paternal grandparents, Noah Shannon and Hettie Owens.
In addition to his parents, survivors include three children, Robert Owens (U.S. Marines) of CA, Hannah Owens and Hunter Owens of Vansant, a brother, Marty (Anita) Owens of Grundy, VA, nieces, Kristy and Kaitlyn, and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders James McClanahan, Jim Blankenship, Eddie Newsome and honorary minister, Elder Frank Newsome officiating. Burial will follow in the Owens Cemetery, Vansant. Pallbearers will be Robert Owens, Steve Owens, Matthew Blankenship, Nathan Lane, Ellis Dales, Kenny Deel, Jeff McCoy, and Wesley Conaway. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Conaway and Hunter Owens. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26 at the funeral home where a song service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
