ROGER HURLEY
Vansant, VA- Roger Hurley, age 66 of Murphy Road, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 at Buchanan General Hospital in Grundy, VA. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Payton and Lucy Stilwell Hurley. He was a retired coal miner, a member of UMWA Local 7025, he attended Bee Pentecostal Church and was of the Christian faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Hassell and Curtis Thomas and Guy and Winfred Hurley, sisters, Yvonne Gilbert, Viva Hawkins, Sharon Kay Hackney, Geneva Austin and Ethel Hurley.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes, two daughters, Tina Denise Hurley of Vansant and Penny Laetta Rachel Davidson of Lebanon, a son, Gary Marcus Hurley of Vansant, three granddaughters, Adriana and Samara Lynn Hurley and Alexis Paige Davidson, two brothers, Roosevelt Hurley and Ralph (Debbie) Hurley both of Vansant, a sister, Mary Ellen Hackney of Bristol and 2 little special friends, Kayden Barton and Alexis Yates. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2015 at Haysi Funeral Home with Giles Ball and David Lowe officiating. Burial will follow in Jackson Cemetery, Davenport, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. D. Patel, Dr. J. Patel, Dr. Swan, Dr. Habre, H. Price Viers and Nurse Amanda Bowen, Lonnie and Fonnie Boyd, Keith Boyd, Gordon Hale, John Ed Deel, Bill Blankenship, Jonas Bostic, Jim Presley, Kyle Bostic, Delmer Boyd, Leon O’quinn, Stilwell brothers, Harley, Darrell, Dexter, Henry and Wayne, members of Bee Pentecostal Church and all of his preaching brothers that he preached with.
