Haysi, VA – Omalene Deel, age 73, went to be with the Lord on Monday morning March 2, 2015 at Bristol Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Ethel Coleman. She was of the Baptist faith and was owner and operator of Golden Chip Coal Co. and had served on the Board of Supervisors for Buchanan County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Deel, a son, Arnie Lee Deel, and a brother, Lonnie Coleman.
Survivors include three brothers, Curtis Coleman of Bluefield, WV, Gurvis Coleman of Haysi, and Ralph (Joan) Coleman of Haysi, two sisters, Debbie (Roger) Bentley of Castlewood, VA and Genette (Thomas) Deel of Haysi, a granddaughter, Peeble Burgess of Grundy, VA and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m.Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Eddie Newsome, Jerry Newsome, Frank Newsome, Buster Mullins, and Steve Lyall officiating. Burial will follow in the Parrot Deel Cemetery, Haysi. Pallbearers will be Steve Coleman, Ricky Coleman, Donald Coleman, Nathan Coleman, Richard Thacker, Jimmy Blankenship, and Coty Blankenship. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Michael Bidros and Charlie Deel. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the funeral home where an evening service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
