Obituary for William Brice "Bill" Lockhart

William “Bill” Brice Lockhart
Vansant, VA – William “Bill” Lockhart, age 77 of Lockhart Branch, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from an extended illness with his family by his side. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Tom and America Owens Lockhart. He was a member of Coleman’s Methodist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran, and a disabled crane and heavy equipment operator last employed with Jewell Coal & Coke Coal Co. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Lane Lockhart, sisters, Leah Lockhart, Dollie Lester, and Edna Conduff, and brothers, Roy and George Lockhart.
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Judy Charles Lockhart, a daughter, Tammy Sue Lockhart of Vansant, a son, Tony Lockhart of Vansant, a sister, Lorean (Tollie) Charles and a brother, Elmer Lockhart both of Vansant.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2014 at Coleman’s Methodist Church with Darrell Thacker and Russell Lockhart officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA. VFW Post #7360 of Grundy, VA will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4 at the funeral home with a service at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent www.haysifuneral.com.
