Willie C. “Bill” Wallace
Haysi, VA – Willie C. “Bill” Wallace, age 93 of Big Ridge passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Clintwood, VA. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Drew and Minnie Breedlove Wallace. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, and retired coal miner and member of UMWA #7170. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Compton, two brothers, Clarence and Frankie Wallace, four sisters, Mallie, Chloe, Pauline, and Cora, and a granddaughter, Leah Harris.
Survivors include his wife, Evalay Wallace, two sons, Roy “Pete” (Marie) Wallace and Darrell Wallace both of Haysi, two daughters, Brenda Willis of Haysi and Sondra (Steve) Harris of Fredericksburg, VA, grandchildren, Danny, Chandra, Amy, Brandi, Chancy, Kayla, Ryan, Zach, Hannah, Luke, and Nathan, and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Haysi Funeral Home with Darrell Milgrim officiating. Burial will follow in the Bartley-Wallace Cemetery, Haysi, VA with Military Rites. Pallbearers will be Brandon Barton, Clay Powers, Ryan Wallace, B.J. Garrison, Luke Harris, Zach Harris, and Todd McCormick. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Willis, Nathan Harris, Levi Hall, Carlie Gene Mullins and Roger Mullins. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6 at the funeral home where an evening service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Danny Sluss officiating.
