Vansant, VA – Howell Presley, age 92 of Pealog Branch Road passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2014 at his home. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Dayton and Genoa Breeding Presley. A 1941 graduate of Council High School, he was a United States Army Veteran of WWII, a self employed truck driver and a member of Fletchers Ridge Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Emil and sisters, Aeolous Lockhart and Ilene Compton.
Survivors include his wife, Gola Hale Presley; a daughter, Justina (Freddie) Fuller of Vansant, VA; grandchildren, Freddie (Paula) Fuller Jr. and Lana (Lucian) Reed; great grandchildren, Hannah, Lucy, Lacey, Luca, Gabe and Raegan; sisters, Juanita Tiller of Aledo, TX and Draper Street of Richlands, VA; a brother, Matawaska Presley of Vansant, VA; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Lora Gilbert, Bill and Cassandra Lester and their children, Payton, Kamdon and Katelynn.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Haysi Funeral Home with Garnell Gilbert and Jim Duty officiating. Burial will follow, with Military graveside rites, in the Presley Cemetery, Vansant, VA. Pallbearers will be Freddie Fuller Jr., Lucian Reed, Mike Newton, Roger Hale, JC Hale and Brian Hale. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Hale, Cliff Tiller and Price Viers.
