Abingdon, VA – Esther Edwards, age 92 of Cloudview Road passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at her residence. Born in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late McKinley and Pearl Edwards Deel. She was a homemaker and a member of Little Zion Church since 1956, then becoming a member of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church in 1979. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arcie O. Edwards and a sister Marie.
Survivors include her children, Clifford Carroll (Sue) Edwards and Ruth White both of Abingdon, VA and Frank (Janet) Edwards of Vansant, VA; sisters, Wanda Long of Michigan and Linda Deel of Lebanon, VA; brothers, Farley Deel and Kenneth Deel both of Michigan and Homer Deel of Abingdon, VA; eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2014 at Haysi Funeral Home with Bobby Mayhorn and Don Stacy officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Memorial Gardens, Lebanon, VA. Pallbearers will be Junior Arrington, Ray Deel, Dee Stanley, Richard Welch, Bernard Owens and Chris Estep. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and members of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. with Garnell Gilbert and Noah Kim Edwards officiating.
