Haysi, VA- Dorothy Lee Younce, age 72 of Tivis Ridge, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014 at her home. Born in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late Tivis Hay and Maxie Stanley Hay Branham. She was last employed as a housekeeper and worked in the sewing factory. She was of the Old Regular Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Burnard Younce, an infant son, Burnard Stacy Younce and a brother, Loyall Hay.
Survivors include a son, Gregory Younce, two daughters, Marsha (Danny) Shell and Lydia Edwards all of Haysi, a brother, Franklin Carl Hay of Haysi, four sisters, Bulah Ann (Teddy) Wallace of Haysi, Wanda Faye (John) Harrocks of PA, Lillie Wallace of Haysi and Theda Jewell (Randy) Tausher of TN, grandchildren, LaDonna (Tim) Oquinn, Chelsie Turner, Jessica (Chris) Smith, Katie (Kevin) Slemp, Kendra Edwards (Brad) and Nathaniel Edwards (Stephanie), great-grandchildren, Jordan, Parker, Andrew, Khyler, Emeilia, Jameson, Kaylie, Stephen, Alice, Emrie and Archer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elder David O’quinn officiating. Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery, Tivis Ridge, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
