Fonnie Deel

Birchleaf, VA – Fonnie Deel, age 83, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Grundy, VA. Born in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late James F. and Hettie Deel Deel. She was a homemaker and member of Sandlick Primitive Baptist Church for 40 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arvil Deel, three daughters, Hazel Stanley, Sandra Deel, and Debbie Deel, and a son, Bobby Deel.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Mullins of Haysi, VA, a son, Danny (Deborah) Deel of Birchleaf, 12 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Garnell Gilbert, Roger Fuller, and Noah Kim Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Jimmy Deel Cemetery, Rakes Ridge. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8 at the funeral home where a song service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
