Shirley Fay Yates (Yates)
SHIRLEY FAY YATES
Haysi, VA- Shirley Fay Yates, age 70, passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. Born in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late Cecil and Rosie Hackney Yates. She worked at Eastern Isle, Clintwood Garment Factory and Cardinal Industries. She was also a seamstress, baker and hairdresser for many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nubern Yates, brothers, Kenneth Ray and Jimmy C. Yates, her only sister, Anna Lee Fields and her husband, Darrell Fields and a nephew, Rodney.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa (Audery) Deel of Haysi and Rita (Stoney) Deel of Tazewell, a grandson, Jason Deel, two granddaughters, Ashley (Aron) Turner and Jessee Deel, two great-grandchildren, Ayden and Cade Turner, three brothers, Billy T. (Pinkie) Yates of Haysi, Elder Earl Dean (Darlene) Yates of Clintwood and Jeffery Lynn (Diane) Yates of Vansant, several nieces and nephews and her loving caregivers, Betty Mitchell and Dorothy Newsome.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Mountain View Old Regular Baptist Church with Elders Andy Deel, Mark Justice and Earl Dean Yates officiating. Burial will follow in Yates Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Pallbearers will be Logan and Mark Deel, Russell Street, Matthew Fuller, Craig Edwards, Paul and Nick Viers and Terry Fields. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. Friday at Haysi Funeral Home with an evening service at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com
