Obituary for Trinkle Yates

Clintwood, Va – Trinkle Yates, age 81 of Big Ridge Road passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, TN. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late William “Bill” and Delma Willis Yates. He was a retired coal miner, a member of UMWA Local 2274, and a member and deacon of Little Sarah Old Regular Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Lona Yates, Stella Yates, Flora Hess and Sarah Mullins and brothers, Harry Yates, Claude Yates and Bart Yates.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Katie Louise Yates; 4 daughters, Christine (Sam) Shortridge of Abingdon, VA, Fonda Owens of LaPorte Indiana, Pamela (Mike) Owens of Meadowview, VA and Jeannie (Mike) Edwards of Lebanon, VA; six sisters, Dollie Rose, Armindy McCowan, Rena Fuller, Vertie Fuller, Itley Mullins and Rose Mullins; one brother, Cane Yates; 6 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2013 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Roger Coleman, Elmer Woods, Earl Dean Yates and Toy Looney officiating. Burial will follow in the Yates Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Pallbearers will be Mike Edwards, Anthony Edwards, Benjamin Owens, Mike Owens, Lane Wood and Dennis Harrison. Honorary pallbearers will be Cane Yates, Roger Mullins, Pride Viers, Sam Shortridge, Mike Mullins and Hershel Perrigan. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
