Clayton, NC – Johnny Tivis Edwards Sr., age 65 passed away at his home Friday, September 20, 2013. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Russell and Evony Mullins Edwards. He was a Vietnam Veteran, retired business owner of J.T. Handyman Painting and attended Powhatan Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jenny Marie; a son, Willie; sisters, Betty Edwards, Pearl Lyall and Maudie Edwards; and brothers, Robert, Claudie and Donnie Edwards.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; children, Regina (Eric) Hill, Angela (Avery Jr.) Mullins, Johnny (Teresa) Edwards Jr., Richard Edwards and Dale Edwards; sister, Roxie (Donald) Brooks; brother, Cecil (Ester) Edwards, 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 24 2013 at Haysi Funeral Home with Garnell Gilbert, Ronnie Rose, Jim Duty and Roger Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in the Nathan Edwards Cemetery, Birchleaf, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
