PHOEBE “ELLEN” ANDERSON OWENS

Vansant, VA- Phoebe “Ellen” Anderson Owens, age 85 of Leemaster Drive passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Buchanan General Hospital in Grundy, VA. Born in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late James and Isabell Fuller Anderson. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Owens, a son, James Owens, a brother, Carlos Anderson, 4 half-brothers, Swanson, Garland, Basil and Tolley Anderson, 2 half-sisters, Lou Blackburn and Gracie Morris, two nephews, William Timothy and Luther Ray Hagy.
Survivors include a sister whom she made her home with, Thelma Hagy of Leemaster, a granddaughter, Stephanie Vanover, a grandson, James Vanover, two special nieces, Marie Fisher and Darlene White, two special nephews, John and Ernie Hagy and several other nieces and nephews. She loved her friends and neighbors and everybody loved her.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Haysi Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Matney officiating. Burial will follow in Newberry Cemetery, Clintwood, VA. Friends and neighbors will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 13, at the funeral home with a song service at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
