Honaker, Va – Yvonne H. Gilbert, age 70 of Helen Henderson Highway, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Valley Health Care, Chilhowie, VA. Born in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late Pete and Lucy Stillwell Hurley. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gilbert; her children, Lois A., Rebecca and Daniel Gilbert; grandsons, Christopher and Nathan; sisters, Viola Hawkins, Sharon Kay Hackney and Geneva Austin and brothers, Guy and Winford Hurley and Curtis Thomas.
Survivors include her daughters, Brenda (Clark) Tiller and Linda (Tim) Ratliff both of Council, VA and Lora Jean Gilbert of Davenport, VA; sons, Randy Ray (Kathy) Gilbert and Ricky Nelson Gilbert both of Davenport, VA; a sister, Ellen Hackney of Bristol, TN; brothers, Roger (Agnes) Hurley, Ralph (Debbie) Hurley and Roosevelt Hurley all of Vansant, VA; 16 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Haysi Funeral Home with Roy Lee Wilson and Don Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in the Gilbert Cemetery, Vansant, VA. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends.
