FERN YATES
Haysi, VA- Fern Yates, age 73 of Bildell Drive, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Born in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late Miles and Tennessee Yates. She had worked as a nurses aide, a cook, was a homemaker and member of Little David Old Regular Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bart Yates and two brothers, Garland and Gilmer Yates.
Survivors include two sons, Ricky (Charlene) Yates of Clinchco and Ronald (Genia) Yates of Sandy Ridge, a daughter, Patricia (Buck) Rasnick of Birchleaf, grandchildren, Derrick, Ashley and husband, Brandon, Kayla, Brandi, Sophia, Liam, Brandi Vanover and Brandon Lee, great- grandchildren, Allie, Brylee, Casen and Brody, a sister, Gladys Mullins of Clintwood, a brother, Curtis (Barbara) Yates of Haysi and 4 special caregivers, Lois, Sharon, Kasey and Amanda.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders, Buster Mullins and Frank Newsome officiating. Burial will follow in Newberry Cemetery,Tarpon, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
