Honaker, VA- Shelvy Gene Duty, age 71 of Helen Henderson Highway, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at her home. Born in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Lacy Thomas Church. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Duty and brothers, Don and W.C. Church.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Haskell Duty, a son, Kevin (Jenny) Duty of Honaker, a daughter, Wanda (boyfriend Frankie) Duty of Lebanon, two grandsons, Dillon and Kobie Duty, seven brothers, Carmel (Helen) Church of Galion, OH, Brady (Cloe) Church of Bee, Clifford (Janie) Church and Dave Church both of Vansant, Dempsy Church of Davenport, Eugene (Teresa) Church and Darnell (Judy) Church both of Haysi, four sisters, Sue (Ayers) Colley of Richlands, Ida Baldwin of Grundy, Karen (Larry) Keen and Linda (Don) Schmidt both of Prater and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Haysi Funeral Home with Roy Lee Wilson, Kenny Taylor and Robert Tiller officiating. Burial will follow in Frank Smith Cemetery, Big A Mtn., VA. Pallbearers will be Tim Nickels, Cory, Davey and Jerold Church, Dean Baldwin, Frankie Smith, Doug Colley, Dillon Duty, Larry Keen and Charles Stevens.
