Russell Prater, VA – Danny Ray Deel, age 50 of Sunset Hollow Road passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2013. Born and raised in the Prater area of Buchanan County, he was a son of Jerry Donald “Don” Deel and the late Janice Deel. He was a retired coal miner of Alpha Natural Resources Roaring Fork #4 mines. Danny was loved by all and will be missed by many loved ones. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Priscilla Durst; step-son Chuck Boyd and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Survivors include his wife of 9 years, Becky Deel; his children, Heather (Danny) Keaton of Pounding Mill, VA, Jonathan (Angel) Deel of Lebanon, VA and Jordan Thomas Hagy of Little Prater, VA; a step-son, Randy (Mary) Boyd of Garden Creek, VA; his father Jerry Donald “Don” (Mag Stiltner) Deel of Russell Prater, VA; grandchildren, David and Justin Boyd and Rayden Deel; father-in-law, Ben Durst of PA; brothers, Jerry Wayne (Cindy) Deel and Kevin Don ( Natasha OQuinn) Deel both of Russell Prater, VA; a sister, Marla Deel of Russell Prater, VA. and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Frank Newsome, Eddie Newsome and David OQuinn officiating. Burial will follow in the Perry Deel Cemetery, Russell Prater, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6:00 Thursday where a service will be conducted at 7:00 with Elder Andy Deel officiating and Friday at 7:00 with Elders Frank Newsome, Eddie Newsome and David OQuinn officiating.
