Obituary for Bobby Wilson Blankenship

BOBBY WILSON BLANKENSHIP

Denton, NC- Bobby Wilson Blankenship, age 76, was called to be with Jesus suddenly on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at his home. Born and raised in Buchanan County, he was the oldest son of the late Toy and Bonnie Jane Deel Blankenship. Bobby was a proud veteran, a disabled coal miner and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Blankenship, a great-grandson, Jared Dean Blankenship, sisters, Wanda Blankenship and Jamia Sue O’quinn Coleman. We all love him and he will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Betty Jean Stevens Blankenship who cared for him, four children he was very proud of two sons, Rondall Keith (Teresa) Blankenship of Denton and Bobby Dean (Phyllis) Blankenship of Prater, two daughters, Jania Ruth Deel of Denton and Sherry Lynn Currie of Atlanta, GA, sisters, Mary Bailey of Vansant and Beatrice Ann Byrd of Prater, 7 grandchildren, Robert Dean Blankenship, Devon and Mason Currie, Issac Blankenship and Kaleb, Hunter and Camron Hale.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m.Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Russell Prater Old Regular Baptist Church with Elders Jimmy Kelly, Earl Dean Yates and Andy Deel officiating. Burial will follow in Deel-Blankenship Family Cemetery, Prater, VA. VFW Post 7360 of Grundy will conduct Military Graveside Rites.
